Waxing is a form of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. With Waxing new hair will not grow back for 4-6 weeeks.Almost any area of the body can be waxed including face, eyebrows, pubic area (called bikini), legs, arms and feet.
You can not have waxing if you are taking:
blood-thinning, drugs for autoimmune diseases (including lupus), steroids if you have psoriasis, eczema, recent sunburn, recent cosmetic surgery and laser treatments. You can not have waxing if you:
have rosecea,if you use tretinoin, hydroquinone or any other peeling agent or if you had a recent chemical peel.
Post-Treatment Advice. Avoid heat treatments for at least 24 hours following waxing. Do not use exfoliating products and loofahs for at least 24 hours after waxing as they may further irritate your skin. Avoid tight clothing after waxing as it may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.
To prevent clogged pores, it is best not to put any heavy lotions on the skin after waxing. Witch hazel, aloe vera gel, diluted pure lavender or blue chamomile essential oil may be used to soothe the skin. It is recommended to wait 24 hours before applying antiperspirant to underarms after waxing that area.
Usually for a normal skin the redness can last from a few minutes up to 30 mins. Very sensitive skin I have seen individual whose skin remains sensitive for a few hours. You can apply a soothing lotion/oil with chamomile, lavender and aloe Vera after the wax to speed up the healing process and bring down redness.
